History of Pine Hills

The story of Pine Hills began over a hundred years ago. In 1910, a man named Ed Fletcher bought land here. He wanted to stop trees from being cut down. In 1912, Fletcher teamed up with George Marston and a banker named Myron Gilmore. Together, they started developing part of the land. This became the Pine Hills community. Later, in 1922, Fletcher created the Pine Hills Community Association. This group helped manage the area.

Pine Hills even had its own post office for a while. It opened on September 11, 1913. But it closed on June 30, 1931. After that, the mail services moved to nearby Julian.
