Pinedale is a small place located in west-central Alberta, Canada. It is part of Yellowhead County. You can find Pinedale about 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) east of a town called Edson. For a time, Pinedale was known as a "hamlet," which is a type of small community.
Pinedale's History
Pinedale was officially recognized as a hamlet by the Government of Alberta on August 26, 1987. This was done so the community could get money to help build a special sewage system. Being a hamlet often helps small communities get support for important services.
However, on February 26, 2019, Yellowhead County decided to change Pinedale's status. They "repealed" the hamlet designation. This means Pinedale was no longer officially called a hamlet. It returned to being known simply as a "locality" within the county.
