History of Pinjarra Station
Early Days and Expansion
Pinjarra station first opened its doors on May 22, 1893. At that time, it was the end of the line for the South Western Railway coming from Perth. A few months later, on August 22, 1893, the railway line was extended all the way to Bunbury.
Becoming a Junction
In 1911, Pinjarra became an important junction station. This happened when the Pinjarra to Narrogin railway line was opened. Today, a part of this old line is used as a special heritage railway by the Hotham Valley Railway. Their train depot is right across from Pinjarra station.
Fire and Rebuilding
Sadly, in 1986, the original station building was destroyed in a fire. A brand new building was constructed in 2007. This new building now serves as the Pinjarra Visitor Centre, welcoming people to the town.
Current Services
Today, Pinjarra station is used by Transwa's Australind service. This train runs twice a day, connecting Perth with Bunbury and stopping at Pinjarra along the way.
