The Phenatoma rosea, also known as the pink tower shell, is a type of sea snail. It is a mollusc that lives in the ocean. This snail is part of a group called gastropods. It belongs to the family Borsoniidae. These snails are known for being predators, meaning they hunt other small creatures for food.
About the Pink Tower Shell
The shell of an adult pink tower snail can be about 23 to 34 millimeters long. That's roughly the length of a small paperclip. Its width is around 11 millimeters. The shell has special spiral grooves and lines running along its length.
The shell's color is a lovely rose-ash, which is a soft pinkish-gray. Inside the shell's opening, called the aperture, the color is a deeper purple-rose.
Where They Live
This sea snail lives in the ocean. You can find the pink tower shell mainly in New Zealand and Tasmania. This means it is native to these areas.
