Pinny Beach is a special area called a "suburb" located in the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia. It was officially created on May 5, 2006. This happened when the borders of nearby suburbs were changed.

Pinny Beach is found on the Swansea Peninsula. It sits to the east of a large lake called Lake Macquarie. To its north is the entrance channel of the Pacific Ocean near Swansea. It is part of the local government area managed by the City of Lake Macquarie.

History of Pinny Beach

The name Pinny Beach comes directly from the beach itself. This beach is a natural feature of the land. It is next to other suburbs like Caves Beach to the northeast. To the west is Murrays Beach. A part of the Pacific Highway forms the border here.

How Pinny Beach Got Its Name

Pinny Beach was once known by a different name. People called it the "windswept heath of Pincushion Plain." This name came from the plants that grew there. These plants looked like pincushions and had sharp, needle-like leaves.
