Pino Caballero Gil, born on November 29, 1968, is a Spanish scientist. She is a professor who teaches about Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of La Laguna (ULL). At the ULL, she leads a special research group called CryptULL, which studies cryptology. Cryptology is the science of secure communication, like creating and breaking codes.

Pino Caballero Gil studied mathematics at the University of La Laguna (ULL). She earned her first degree in 1990 and her advanced degree (Ph.D.) in 1995. Since 2015, she has been a professor in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Her research focuses on making digital information safe. This includes cryptography (making codes), cryptanalysis (breaking codes), and cryptographic protocols (rules for secure communication). She also works on keeping wireless communications secure and creating pseudorandom number generators. These are numbers that seem random but are made by a computer. Her work also covers strong ways to prove who you are online and secure apps for mobile phones.
Since 1998, Professor Caballero Gil has led the CryptULL research group at ULL. This group focuses on cryptology. She has worked on many research projects both in Spain and with other countries. She also helped start the Spanish Network of Excellence on Cybersecurity Research. This network brings together experts to improve cybersecurity.
In 2019, she ran to become the rector (the head) of the University of La Laguna. In 2022, she gave an important speech at the Spanish Meeting on Cryptology and Information Security (RECSI) at the University of Cantabria.
