Piolo Jose Nonato Pascual (Tagalog pronunciation: [pɐsˈkwal], born on January 12, 1977) is a famous Filipino actor, model, singer, TV host, comedian, and film producer. He is known for his many roles in movies and TV shows.
Piolo started his career in 1993 with a small part in a movie. He first appeared on TV in the show That's Entertainment. He became very popular after starring with Judy Ann Santos in the 1997 TV series Esperanza. They worked together on many other projects, including Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka (2001-2003) and Till There Was You (2003).
In 2002, Piolo was in the movie Dekada '70 with Vilma Santos. His role earned him several "Best Supporting Actor" awards. In 2008, he starred in the fantasy TV series Lobo with Angel Locsin. Later, in 2013, he was in the crime movie On the Job, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Piolo has also helped produce films like the Kimmy Dora series and Kita Kita (2017). In recent years, he starred in the Philippine version of Flower of Evil in 2022.

Early Life and Beginnings
Piolo Jose Nonato Pascual was born in Malate, Manila, Philippines, on January 12, 1977. He is the youngest child of Amelia "Amy" Nonato Pascual and Philip Victoriano Pascual. His father worked as a casting director for international movies filmed in the Philippines.
Piolo went to St. Francis School in Santa Ana, Manila, for elementary and high school. When he was in 5th grade, he joined his school's theater group, Teatro Ni Kiko. This was where he first learned about acting.
While in high school, Piolo started appearing on That's Entertainment, a popular teen variety show in the 1990s. He later left the show to go to college full-time at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). He first studied General Education and then changed to Physical Therapy. This was because he planned to move to the U.S.
Around 1996, Piolo put his studies on hold to move to Los Angeles, U.S. There, he worked at a hospital where his mother also worked. When Piolo turned 21, he decided to return to Manila to continue his acting career.
Career Highlights
Piolo Pascual officially began his acting career in 1994 on That's Entertainment. He then appeared in other TV shows like Mara Clara and Gimik. His pairing with Judy Ann Santos became very popular in the early 2000s. Their movies together, such as Till There Was You, were very successful. His movie with Claudine Barretto, Milan, is one of his highest-earning films.
Early in his singing career, Piolo joined a group called The Hunks. This all-male group included Diether Ocampo, Bernard Palanca, Jericho Rosales, and Carlos Agassi.
In 2002, Piolo played Jules in the movie Dekada '70. He won eight "Best Supporting Actor" awards for this role. In 2003, his first music album, Piolo, sold very well and became "platinum." His next album, My Gift, also reached "platinum" status. His fifth album, Timeless, even reached "triple platinum."
In 2007, he starred with singer Regine Velasquez in the movie Paano Kita Iibigin. In 2008, he was in the fantasy TV series Lobo with Angel Locsin. This show received awards from the Banff World Media Festival and was recognized by the International Emmy Awards.
In 2009, Piolo became a producer for the independent film Manila. This movie was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. That same year, he starred in the Philippine version of Lovers in Paris with KC Concepcion. Piolo also co-founded his own film studio, Spring Films, which is known for popular movies like the Kimmy Dora series. In 2013, he returned to Cannes with his movie On the Job.
Personal Life
Piolo Pascual has a son named Iñigo Dominic Lázaro Pascual, who was born on September 14, 1997. Piolo is also the uncle of Filipino actor Benjamin Alves.
In 2013, Piolo joined a campaign by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). The campaign aimed to move Mali, the only elephant at the Manila Zoo, to a bigger and better home.
