Name and History
A settler named A. W. Piper renamed the creek "Piper's Creek." Over time, the apostrophe is often left out.
The Duwamish people, who are the native people of this area, had their own name for the creek. They called it "Dropped Down." In their language, Lushootseed, this was "qWátub."
