The Piping Live! Festival is a super exciting yearly event all about bagpipes! It happens in Glasgow, Scotland, and is organized by the National Piping Centre. This festival started in 2003 and leads right up to the amazing World Pipe Band Championships. It's the biggest bagpipe festival on Earth and brings in a lot of money for Scotland's tourism – about £12 million!

The Piping Live! Festival, sometimes called the Piping Hot Festival, is a huge yearly celebration of bagpiping. It takes place in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The festival is put on by the National Piping Centre, which is a famous place for learning and celebrating bagpipe music.

What Happens at the Festival?

The festival always begins with fantastic performances at the Royal Concert Hall. Talented musicians, including the The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, play for everyone.

Fun Activities and Events

Throughout the week, the festival has more than 150 different events! You can find free classes where you can learn about bagpipes. There are also many concerts where you can listen to amazing music. And don't forget the fun ceilidhs, which are traditional Scottish parties with music and dancing!

A Special Day for Canada

The festival even has a special "Canada Day." This day celebrates the many top-level Canadian pipe bands that come to Scotland. These bands compete in the World Pipe Band Championships.

Music Releases

The National Piping Centre also releases new music albums around the time of the festival. For example, the album Seudan by the band of the same name came out in 2011.

Awards and Ambassadors

The Piping Live! Festival has won awards for being such a great event. In 2008, it won "Event of The Year" at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards.

In 2010, a famous Scottish curler named Eve Muirhead became an ambassador for the festival. An ambassador helps promote an event. Eve helped the festival reach out to more young people and get them interested in bagpipes. The festival is directed by Roddy MacLeod.
