The Bakery's Story
Piroshky Piroshky first opened its doors in 1992. It was started by Vladimir and Zina Kotelnikov in the famous Pike Place Market in Seattle.
A few years later, their son Oliver joined the business with Olga Sagan. Eventually, Olga Sagan became the sole owner of the bakery in 2018.
Growing the Business
Between 2014 and 2017, the bakery started to grow! Olga Sagan and Oliver Kotelnikov opened three more locations in Seattle. These new spots were in Northgate, Southcenter, and Columbia Center. By 2022, Piroshky Piroshky had four locations in Seattle.
In 2018, the bakery opened its fifth location and even planned to launch a food truck. They also started offering new vegan options in 2019, so more people could enjoy their treats.
Featured on TV
The original Pike Place Market bakery became quite famous! It appeared on TV shows:
- In 2007, it was on Anthony Bourdain's show No Reservations.
- In 2017, it was featured on Andrew Zimmern's show The Zimmern List.
Recent Times
During the COVID-19 pandemic, one of their locations, Century Square, had to close for over a year. It reopened in September 2021. However, in early 2022, the owner Olga Sagan announced that this location would temporarily close again.
