The Piura Metropolitan Area is a large city area in northern Peru. It includes the main city of Piura and several nearby districts. These districts work together on plans for city growth, industries, and businesses.

The districts that make up this metropolitan area are Piura, Veintiséis de Octubre, Castilla, and Catacaos. In 2015, it was one of the biggest metropolitan areas in Peru by population.

City Planning for Piura

Cities need plans to grow in an organized way. The "Urban development plan of Piura, Castilla y Catacaos 2032" was a plan for how these areas would develop. It was first approved in December 2012.

However, this plan was later canceled in March 2013. For now, an older plan called the "Director Plan of Piura and Castilla" is being used. This will continue until a new urban development plan is created and officially published for the whole area.
