Plainedge is a small community called a hamlet and a census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York. It is located on Long Island within the Town of Oyster Bay. In 2020, about 9,517 people lived here.

A long time ago, this area was known by a different name: Turkeyville.

Plainedge covers an area of about 1.4 square miles (3.6 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.

The people living in Plainedge get their mail from several different Post Offices. Most residents are served by the Bethpage, Massapequa, and Seaford Post Offices. A smaller number of homes get their mail from the Farmingdale and Levittown Post Offices.

In 2010, the population of Plainedge was mostly White people. About 92% of the residents identified as White. A smaller number of people were African American, Native American, or Asian.
