Where is Plasenzuela?
Plasenzuela is found in a flat area called the Trujillo Cacereña penillanura. The land around the town is mostly wide, open plains. You might also see some large, rounded granite rocks called batoliths sticking out of the ground.
A Look at Plasenzuela's History
Plasenzuela has many old remains from different times. These show that people have lived here for a very long time.
Ancient Times
- At a place called Cerro de la Horca, people found tools and items from the Stone Age (Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age).
- The Romazal necropolis has graves from the end of the Iron Age.
- There are also old mines and other sites with Roman items. The Romans even called the town Vetonesto.
From Trujillo to Manors
After a period when the area was under Islamic rule, Plasenzuela became part of the larger town of Trujillo. This lasted until the 1500s.
- In the 16th century, a man named Juan de Vargas y Camargo bought the land. This made Plasenzuela his private estate, or manor.
- Later, in the 17th century, the noble Tapia family took over the town.
- By the 18th century, it became part of the lands owned by the Count of Canilleros.
Modern Plasenzuela
In 1594, Plasenzuela was still part of Trujillo and the Province of Trujillo. When the old system of government ended, Plasenzuela became its own town. This happened around 1834. It then joined the Trujillo Judicial district. In 1842, a count showed that Plasenzuela had 95 homes and 520 people.
