A Look at History

Plattsburgh was officially "platted" in 1852. When a town is "platted," it means that its streets, lots, and public areas are carefully mapped out and planned. This helps organize the community as it grows.

A post office was opened in Plattsburgh in 1867. Post offices were very important back then for sending and receiving mail, connecting people and businesses. This post office served the community for many years, staying open until 1968.
