Playa Fly (born Ibn Young on September 2, 1977) is a rapper from Memphis, Tennessee, in the United States. He started his music career as Lil Fly. Later, he became known as Playa Fly. He released an independent album before signing with Super Sigg Records. During this time, he created many popular songs. One of his most famous songs is "Nobody Needs Nobody."
Biography
Super Sigg Records
In 1996, Playa Fly released his first album with Super Sigg Records. This album featured songs like "Nappy Hair & Gold Teeth" and "Flizy Comin'". Other artists such as Gangsta Blac and Bill Chill also appeared on the album. This was also when Fly started working with producer Blackout.
In 1998, his album Movin' On came out. It included tracks such as "Situation" and "Funk-N-Buck." Gangsta Blac and Bill Chill, who was Fly's father, were also featured.
Just Gettin' It On was released in March 1999. It was a new version of his earlier solo CD. In November of the same year, Da Game Owe Me was released. This was the last album from Super Sigg Records. Just Gettin' It On had songs like "Gettin' It On." It featured artists like Minnie Mae Mafia and Terror.
Minnie Mae Muzik
After leaving Super Sigg, Playa Fly started his own music label. He named it Minnie Mae Muzik, after his grandmother. He began working on the album Fly2K with Diamond Records. The release of Fly2K was delayed from 2000 to 2002.
Fly2K was released in November 2002. This album included songs like "Bill Chill Lives," which was a tribute to his father. Other songs were "Universal Heartthrob" and "Here Fly Come." Many other artists like Mista Tito and D-A-V were featured on this album.
In mid-2006, Fly continued his music career. He planned a new album called Mafia All Day. In July, a song called "Horses" was featured on the XXL website. In December 2010, Playa Fly released the single "Blast Off." This song was from the Mafia All Day album.
