Pleasant Mount or Mount Pleasant is a small place in Miller County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. The historic community was located on a hilltop. Today, the community of Mount Pleasant is just south of U.S. Route 54, about three miles northeast of Eldon. A Look Back: The History of Pleasant Mount
Pleasant Mount was first planned out in 1838. This process, called "platting," is when someone draws a map showing how land will be divided into lots for buildings and streets. A post office was opened in Pleasant Mount in 1847. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, but it closed down in 1909. Sometimes, people also called the area "Mount Pleasant."
