Pleasant View is a small place in Indiana, located in Shelby County. It is an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
History of Pleasant View
Pleasant View was first planned out in 1836. It was designed to be a stop for stagecoaches. Stagecoaches were like old-fashioned buses pulled by horses. They traveled along a major road called the Michigan turnpike.
This community has had a few different names over the years. It was once called Wrights and also Doblestown.
A post office was opened in 1828 under the name Wrights. It was later renamed Doblestown in 1837. Then, in 1841, it was changed to Pleasant View. The post office eventually closed down in 1859.
