The PlusLiga is the top men's volleyball league in Poland. It is a professional competition where volleyball clubs from Poland play against each other. The league is managed by a group called Polska Liga Siatkówki SA (PLS SA).
There are 14 teams in the PlusLiga. They play matches from October to April or May. After the regular season, the best teams compete in playoffs. The team that wins the playoffs becomes the Polish Champion (called Mistrzostwo Polski in Polish). PlusLiga is known as one of the best volleyball leagues in Europe. It often ranks highly in international competitions.
The league started in its current form in 2000. It was first known as Polska Liga Siatkówki (which means Polish Volleyball League). In 2008, it changed its name to PlusLiga. This name comes from a mobile phone company called Plus, which became the league's main sponsor.
