Point Blank is a Canadian hip-hop group from Toronto, Ontario. They started making music in 1992. The group has six emcees (rappers) named Imperial, Trouble, Stump, Kidd, RPD, and Jackal. They also have one producer, Pikihed, who creates the music beats.
The group created their own music company called Tilt Rock Records. This company works with Koch Entertainment Canada, which helps distribute their music. Point Blank has released many popular songs and music videos. Some of their well-known songs include "Thin Line," "Want It Wit Us," and "Born and Raised in the Ghetto." The video for "Born and Raised in the Ghetto" was even nominated for a MuchMusic Video Award in 2007.
The members of Point Blank grew up in Regent Park in Toronto. This is a large housing area in Canada. Their music often talks about the experiences and challenges that young people face in their communities. They share stories about growing up and the social issues they saw around them.
Jay Devonish, who works with their music label, said that Point Blank was known for being true to themselves. He said that people in Toronto respected them a lot. This respect helped them gain many fans who supported their music from the very beginning.
In 2008, Point Blank released their first album, also called Point Blank. This album was very successful. It was nominated for a Juno Award in 2009. The Juno Awards are like the Grammy Awards for Canadian music.
