The Point Neighborhood Historic District, also called Stage Point, is a special area in Salem, Massachusetts. It's mostly a neighborhood where people live, located just south of the city's downtown. This historic district has many streets laid out in a grid pattern. It is east of Lafayette Street, south of the South River, west of Congress Street, and north of Chase and Leavitt Streets.
This area was rebuilt after a big fire in 1914. Many buildings, especially homes with multiple apartments, were built quickly in just three years. This means the buildings in the neighborhood look very similar and fit well together. Most shops and businesses are found on the edges of the district, like on Lafayette Street and Congress Street.

A Big Fire and New Beginnings
In 1914, a large fire swept through the Point Neighborhood. This event caused a lot of damage to the area. Many homes and buildings were destroyed. It was a challenging time for the people living there. However, the city of Salem quickly decided to help rebuild.
Building Back Better
