Poskin is a small place in Wisconsin, United States. It's not a city or a village, but what's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government like a city does. Poskin is found in Barron County, within the town of Clinton. You can find it about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) west of Barron along U.S. Route 8. Sometimes, people also call it Cosgrove or Poskin Lake.
Discovering Poskin's Past
Poskin officially started in 1887. This is when its streets and building lots were first mapped out and recorded, a process called "platting." The community got its name from Mary Poskin. She was the wife of an important person in the lumber business back then.
For many years, Poskin had its own post office. It first opened on March 30, 1887. This post office served the community for over a century before it closed its doors on July 10, 1993.
