Barron is a city in Wisconsin, United States. It is the main city and county seat of Barron County. In 2020, about 3,733 people lived there. The city of Barron is surrounded by the larger area known as the Town of Barron.

History of Barron

Barron was first called Quaderer's Camp. This name came from John Quaderer, who was a local lumber foreman. Later, the name was changed to Barron. This was done to honor Henry D. Barron. The city became the county seat for Barron County, which means it's where the county government is located. Barron was chosen over another nearby city, Rice Lake.

Barron is easy to reach because it is located along two important roads: U.S. Highway 8 and Wisconsin Highway 25.
