Potenza Sport Club was an Italian football team. It was based in the city of Potenza, in Basilicata, Italy. The club was re-started in 2004 as A.S. Calcio Potenza. This happened after two older clubs, A.S.C. Potenza (from 1983) and F.C. Potenza (from 1919), joined together. The club later changed its name to Potenza S.C. in 2006. The team stopped playing in 2011.
Club History
Early Years and Success
Potenza had some good times in Italian football. The team played in Serie B for five seasons. This was from the 1963–64 season to the 1967–68 season. Their best result was finishing 5th in Serie B during the 1964–65 season. This was a big achievement for the club.
Promotions and Challenges
On June 18, 2007, Potenza earned a promotion to Serie C1. They achieved this by winning against Benevento in the 2006–07 Serie C2 promotion playoffs. This was an exciting moment for the club and its fans.
However, the club later faced some tough times. In 2010, Potenza was removed from the Lega Pro Prima Divisione league. This was due to problems with rules and finances. Even though they were allowed to finish the season, they ended up in last place. This meant they had to play in a lower league, the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione, for the 2010–11 season.
In July 2010, the Italian football federation removed the club again. This was because of financial difficulties. Potenza then joined an amateur league called Eccellenza. Sadly, the club did not play in any league during the 2011–12 season. In April 2012, the club's membership in the Italian Football Federation ended.
