Potenza Sport Club S.r.l. was an Italian football club from Potenza, Basilicata. The club was started again in 2004 as A.S. Calcio Potenza. It later changed its name to Potenza S.C. in 2006. The team was known by its nicknames Rossoblù (Red-Blues) and Leoni (Lions).
Club History
Early Successes
Potenza moved up to a higher league called Serie C1 in 2007. They won against another team, Benevento, to get there. The club also played in Serie B, which is a very important league, for five seasons in the 1960s. Their best result was finishing 5th in Serie B during the 1964–65 season.
Later Challenges
In 2010, Potenza faced some difficulties. The club was removed from the Lega Pro Prima Divisione league. This happened because of problems with a game played in 2008. After an appeal, the club was allowed to finish the season. However, they were placed last in the final standings. This meant they had to play in a lower league, the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione, for the next season.
Financial Difficulties
In July 2010, the Italian football federation removed the club because of money problems. Potenza was then allowed to join an amateur league called Eccellenza. However, the club did not play in any league during the 2011–12 season. In April 2012, the club's membership in the Italian Football Federation ended.

Many talented players have been part of Potenza's team. Some of these players even played for the Italian national team or the Italian under-21 team.
