The Potts River is a river found in the Canterbury area of New Zealand's South Island. It starts in the southern part of the Arrowsmith Range.
The river flows mostly south. It travels through a valley with steep sides. On one side, to the west, is the Potts Range. To the east is the Big Hill Range.
Where the Potts River Flows
The Potts River flows for about 36 kilometers (22 miles). It begins high up in the mountains.
Journey to the Rangitata River
After flowing through the mountain ranges, the Potts River changes direction. It turns towards the southwest. It then joins the larger Rangitata River. This meeting point is about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) north of a place called Mesopotamia Station.
