Poulsbo Bread is a special kind of multigrain bread. It was first made in the 1970s in Poulsbo, Washington, USA. For many years, people all over the world could buy it. A passage from the Bible gave the idea for this bread. As of 2018, you can only buy Poulsbo Bread at one store in Poulsbo.
The Story of Poulsbo Bread

Poulsbo Bread was created by Marion Sluys. He owned Sluys' Bakery in Poulsbo. In 1974, Marion Sluys read a part of the Book of Ezekiel in the Bible. This part talked about baking a special kind of multigrain bread.
Sluys decided to try making this recipe in his bakery. He named the bread "Poulsbo Bread." The Bible passage that inspired him is Ezekiel 4:9. It says:
Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.
Sluys' Bakery says that in the early 1980s, they let a company called Franz Family Bakeries make Poulsbo Bread. This allowed the bread to be sold all over the country and even in other parts of the world. A rule of this agreement was that the Bible verse, Ezekiel 4:9, had to be printed on all the bread packages.
In 2011, Franz Family Bakeries stopped making Poulsbo Bread in large amounts. This was because not enough people were buying it anymore. However, Sluys' Bakery still makes Poulsbo Bread by hand. They sell it locally in Poulsbo.
Types of Poulsbo Bread
