Book of Ezekiel facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Book of Ezekiel is an important book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament. It is named after a prophet called Ezekiel. This book is part of the Nevi'im, which means Prophets. It has 48 chapters.

The Book of Ezekiel starts with a powerful vision. Ezekiel describes seeing God in heaven, surrounded by amazing wheels and strange living creatures. Another famous vision in the book is about a valley full of dry bones. When Ezekiel spoke to these bones, they came back to life! This vision showed that God would bring his people back to life after they were taken captive by Babylon. Both of these stories have even inspired songs.

Ezekiel sometimes did unusual things to warn people. He wanted to show them that they would be punished for a while. This punishment was because they had not been faithful to God, as he had asked them to be.

The book also talks about several key topics. It discusses the return and rebirth of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel (in chapters 36-37). It describes a future war involving Gog and Magog against Israel (chapters 38-39). The book also gives details about a new Jewish temple (chapters 40-47). Finally, it explains how the land would be divided among the tribes of Israel (chapters 47-48).
