Powell, Nebraska facts for kids
Powell is a small place in Jefferson County, Nebraska, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History of Powell
Powell was first planned around 1872 by the Powell family. They decided to create this community because they knew a railroad was going to be built through that area. Railroads were very important back then because they helped people travel and transport goods.
In the 1880s, a post office was opened in Powell. This was a big deal because it meant people living there could send and receive mail, connecting them to other places.
