Prairie, Washington facts for kids
Prairie is a small, quiet place in Skagit County, in the state of Washington, USA. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
History of Prairie
The community of Prairie has a simple but interesting past. A place for sending and receiving mail, called a post office, was set up in Prairie way back in 1884. This post office helped people living there stay connected. It operated for many years until it closed in 1925. The name "Prairie" comes from a large, open grassy area, or prairie, that was nearby.
