Pran Nevile (born 1922 – died October 11, 2018) was an Indian author. He wrote many books about Indian Art, Indian Culture, and Indian History. He is most famous for his 1992 book, Lahore: A Sentimental Journey. Pran Nevile was an expert on the city of Lahore before 1947. He also knew a lot about Nautch, which refers to traditional Indian dance and music performances.

Who Was Pran Nevile?
Pran Nevile was born in 1922 in Lahore. He earned his advanced degree from Government College Lahore. He had an important career working for the Indian government and the United Nations.
Pran Nevile's Career Journey
Mr. Nevile worked for the Indian Foreign Service. This means he represented India in other countries. He was posted in places like Japan, Poland, and the former USSR. He also worked in the USA.
He was a director at the State Trading Corporation. This job involved managing trade with seven countries in Eastern Europe. His last job abroad was as the Consul General of India in Chicago. A Consul General is a top diplomat who represents their country in a major city.
Pran Nevile also spent six years in Geneva, Switzerland. He worked for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This part of the United Nations helps countries with trade. He specialized in trade with a group of countries called Comecon. After he retired, he became a writer. He focused on studying Indian art and culture.

Pran Nevile loved traditional Indian dance and music. This passion led him to spend seven years researching. He visited libraries and museums in England and the United States. This research helped him write his famous book, Nautch Girls of India, published in 1996.

Pran Nevile passed away in New Delhi on October 11, 2018. He was 95 years old.
