Prentiss Waggner grew up in Clinton, Louisiana. He played high school football at Clinton High School, where he showed great talent on the field. His skills helped him prepare for a future in college football.
College Football Career
Prentiss Waggner played college football for the University of Tennessee from 2008 to 2012. When he first joined in 2008, he "redshirted." This means he practiced with the team but didn't play in any games, which allowed him to gain experience and keep an extra year of playing eligibility.
First Seasons at Tennessee
In the 2009 season, Prentiss started to play in games. He appeared in 13 games and made some tackles, showing his potential on defense.
Shining in 2010
The 2010 season was a big year for Prentiss. He became a key player on the defense. He made several exciting plays, including:
- A 54-yard interception that he ran back for a touchdown against Tennessee-Martin. This is often called a "pick-six."
- Another "pick-six" for nine yards against UAB.
- A third "pick-six" for 10 yards against Ole Miss.
