Early Life and Career

Pricilla was born in about 1978 and grew up in a neighborhood called Laranjeiras. Even early in her life, she showed incredible courage. She once arrested people who had kidnapped her!
In 1998, Pricilla joined the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro State. By 2000, she was working on the streets, helping to keep order and fight crime. She even escaped a kidnapping attempt in 2007 and managed to arrest three of the people involved.
Leading Police Units
In 2008, Pricilla took on a very important role. She became the leader of the first "Police Pacification Unit" (UPP) in Rio de Janeiro. These units work to bring peace and safety to areas that have faced challenges, like the favela of Santa Marta.
Later, in 2013, she became the chief of the Police Pacification Unit in Rocinha. This was another big responsibility, showing how much trust people had in her leadership.
Awards and Recognition
Pricilla's courage and hard work have been recognized globally. In 2012, she received the International Women of Courage award. This special award honors women who show amazing bravery and leadership.
