Primavera is a special area in Chile called a commune. Its name means "spring" in Spanish. It is located in the Tierra del Fuego Province, which is part of the Magallanes and Antartica Chilena Region.
Primavera is found on the northern part of the large Tierra del Fuego Island. The main town in this commune is called Cerro Sombrero.

Facts About Primavera's Population
Primavera covers a large area of about 4,614 square kilometers. In 2002, a study found that 1,016 people lived there. Most of these residents lived in rural areas, meaning outside of big cities.
The population was made up of 735 men and 281 women. Between 1992 and 2002, the number of people living in Primavera went down by 38%.
How Primavera is Governed
Primavera is a commune, which is a local government area in Chile. It is managed by a group called a municipal council. The leader of this council is an alcalde, like a mayor.
The alcalde is chosen by the people in an election every four years. From 2012 to 2016, the alcalde was Blagomir Brztilo Avendaño.
Representing Primavera in Government
Primavera is part of a larger area for elections in Chile. This area sends people to the Chamber of Deputies. This is similar to a house of representatives in other countries.
In the 60th electoral district, which includes the whole Magallanes Region, Juan Enrique Morano and Gabriel Boric represented Primavera.
Primavera also has representatives in the Senate, which is another part of the Chilean government. Carlos Bianchi Chelech and Carolina Goic Boroevic represented the Magallanes Region in the Senate.
