Provinces of Chile

A province is like a medium-sized area or division within a country. In Chile, provinces are the second biggest administrative areas, right after regions. Think of it like this: Chile is divided into big regions, and each region is then split into smaller provinces.

Chile has 54 provinces in total! Each province is led by a person called a governor (gobernador). The President chooses who gets to be a governor. Provinces are also divided into even smaller areas called communes. These communes are managed by a municipality, which is like a local government.
