Cachapoal Province (which in Spanish is Provincia de Cachapoal) is one of the three provinces in the central Chilean region called Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins. The main city and capital of Cachapoal Province is Rancagua.
This province gets its name from the Cachapoal river. This river flows through the province from the east to the west.

Cachapoal Province covers an area of about 7,384.2 square kilometers. It is the largest province in the O'Higgins region.
This province is landlocked, which means it does not touch the ocean. It shares borders with different areas:
- To the north, it borders the Santiago Metropolitan region.
- To the east, it borders Argentina.
- To the south, it borders the Colchagua province.
- To the west, it borders the Cardenal Caro province.

Most of Cachapoal Province is located in the valley of the Cachapoal river. This area is well-known for growing grapes. These grapes are used to make wine.
Who Lives in Cachapoal Province?
People who live in Cachapoal Province are called Cachapoalino (for boys and men) or Cachapoalina (for girls and women).
According to the last national census in 2002, there were 542,901 people living in the province. This means there were about 73.5 people living in each square kilometer.
The biggest city in the province is Rancagua, which is also its capital. In 2002, Rancagua had 206,971 people. The next largest city is Rengo, with 30,891 people.
