The Bío Bío Province (called Provincia de Bío Bío in Spanish) is one of three important areas, or provinces, in the Chilean region known as Bío Bío. Its main city and capital is Los Ángeles.

Where is Bío Bío Province?
The Bío Bío Province is located in the southeastern part of the Bío Bío region. It covers a large area of about 14,987.9 square kilometers (about 5,787 square miles). It's special because it's the only province in its region that doesn't touch the coast. The capital city, Los Ángeles, is southeast of Concepción, which is the capital of the whole Bío Bío region.
The Bío Bío Province shares its borders with several other places. To the north, it borders the Ñuble province. To the west, it borders the Concepción province. To the east, it borders Argentina. To the south, it borders the Araucanía region, and to the southwest, it borders the Arauco province.

The most important river flowing through the province is the Bío Bío River.
What is the Climate Like?
The climate in Los Ángeles, the capital city, is a Mediterranean climate. This means it has warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
On average, Los Ángeles gets about 1069.3 millimeters (about 42.1 inches) of rain each year. The rainiest month is usually May, with about 254 millimeters (10 inches) of rain. The driest month is February, with only about 15.2 millimeters (0.6 inches) of rain.

How Many People Live Here?
According to the last national census in 2002, there were 353,315 people living in the Bío Bío Province. This means that for every square kilometer, there were about 23.6 people. Most of these people, about 245,775, lived in cities or towns.
The biggest city in the province is its capital, Los Ángeles, which had 117,972 people in 2002. Other important cities include Mulchén with 21,819 people and Nacimiento with 20,884 people.
