Chacabuco Province (Spanish: Provincia de Chacabuco) is a special area in central Chile. It is one of six provinces in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. This province is located north of Santiago Province. Santiago Province is a very big city area.
The main city of Chacabuco Province is Colina. Colina is about 27 kilometers (17 miles) north of Santiago.

How Chacabuco Province is Governed
Chacabuco is like a smaller region within Chile. It is managed by a special leader called a Presidential Provincial Delegate. This delegate is chosen by the President of Chile. The current delegate is Giordano Delpin Pino. He was chosen by President Gabriel Boric.
Cities and Towns in Chacabuco
The province is made up of three main areas called communes (in Spanish, comunas). Each commune has its own local government. This government includes a mayor (called an alcalde) and a group of people who help make decisions (a municipal council).
Here are the three communes:
- Colina: This is the capital city of the province. About 77,815 people live here.
- Lampa: About 40,228 people live in Lampa.
- Til-Til: About 14,755 people live in Til-Til.
Geography and People
Chacabuco Province covers an area of about 2,076 square kilometers (802 square miles). This makes it the third largest province in the Santiago Metropolitan Region.
In 2002, a count of the people showed that Chacabuco was the least populated province in its region. At that time, there were 132,798 people living there. Most people, about 99,201, lived in urban areas (cities and towns). The rest, about 33,597 people, lived in rural areas (the countryside). There were 69,184 men and 63,614 women.
