Prince Antoine of Monaco, Marquis of Baux (born 16 December 1717 – died 4 February 1718) was a young prince from Monaco. He was a member of the House of Grimaldi, which is the ruling family of Monaco.
Prince Antoine was also known as the Marquis of Baux. This was a special title given to the person who was expected to become the next ruler of Monaco. Sadly, Prince Antoine passed away when he was very young, so he never became the ruler.
A Short Life
Prince Antoine Charles Marie Grimaldi was born in Monaco. He was the first son of Princess Louise Hippolyte, who was the reigning princess at the time, and her husband, Jacques I.
As the eldest son, Prince Antoine was the heir to the throne of Monaco. This meant he was next in line to become the ruler after his mother. The title of Marquis of Baux was traditionally given to the heir to the Monégasque throne.
Unfortunately, Prince Antoine lived for only a short time. He passed away when he was just seven weeks old.
