Prince Hoare (born 1755 – died 22 December 1834) was a talented English artist. He was a painter, a dramatist (someone who writes plays), and a librettist (someone who writes the words for operas or musicals). His first name, "Prince," was just a given name, not a royal title.
Life of Prince Hoare
Prince Hoare was born in Bath, England. His father, William Hoare, was also a painter. Prince was named after his father's brother, who was a sculptor.
From a young age, Prince Hoare studied art. He became well known for painting portraits of people and scenes from history. His sister, Mary Hoare, was also a famous painter.
Later in his life, Prince Hoare wrote 20 plays. He also put together a book called Memoirs of Granville Sharp in 1820. This book was based on the writings and family papers of Granville Sharp. Sharp was a British abolitionist, meaning he worked to end slavery.
