Princess Gabriella's Early Life
In May 2014, it was announced that Princess Charlene was expecting a baby. Later, in October 2014, it was confirmed that she was going to have twins! The palace shared that when the twins were born, there would be a special celebration. This included 21 cannon shots for each baby fired from Fort Antoine, making a total of 42 shots. Church bells would also ring for fifteen minutes, and the day would be a public holiday.
Princess Gabriella was born on December 10, 2014, at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre in Monaco. Even though she was born a few minutes before her brother, Jacques, he is ahead of her in the line to the throne. This is because Monaco follows a rule called male-preference primogeniture. This rule means that a male heir comes before a female heir, even if the girl is older. Her father gave her the special title of Countess of Carladès. On January 7, 2015, Princess Gabriella and her brother were officially shown to the people of Monaco.
Gabriella and Jacques had their christening ceremony at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate in Monaco-Ville on May 10, 2015. Her godparents are her uncle, Gareth Wittstock, and Nerine Pienaar, who is married to famous rugby player Francois Pienaar. During this special event, Princess Gabriella received an important award called the Grand Officer of the Order of Grimaldi.
First Holy Communion
Princess Gabriella received her First Holy Communion on May 11, 2025. She celebrated this important religious event with her brother Jacques at the Church of Saint Charles. Both siblings wore white robes for the ceremony.
Education and Learning
Princess Gabriella and her brother Jacques have been attending the François d'Assise-Nicolas Barré School since 2021. This is where they go to learn and study.
