Birth and Christening
In May 2014, it was announced that Princess Charlene was expecting a baby. Later, in October 2014, it was confirmed that she was expecting twins!
The palace shared some special plans for their birth. Each twin would receive a salute of 21 cannon shots. Church bells would ring for fifteen minutes, and boat horns would sound. The day of their birth would even be a public holiday!
On December 10, 2014, Prince Jacques was born at Monaco's Princess Grace Hospital Centre. He arrived two minutes after his sister, Gabriella. Princess Charlene chose the name Jacques because it is common in her home country. The names Honoré and Rainier are traditional names for Monaco's past rulers.
Prince Jacques received the title Marquis of Baux from his father. The twins were officially introduced to the public on January 7, 2015. This day was also a public holiday in Monaco.
Jacques and Gabriella were baptized at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate in Monaco-Ville on May 10, 2015. His godparents are Christopher Le Vine Jr. and Diane de Polignac Nigra. On this special day, he was given the Grand Cross of the Order of Grimaldi.
