Prisca Guadalupe Awiti Alcaraz (born 20 February 1996) is a talented judo athlete. She was born in England. Prisca made history for Mexico at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She won a silver medal there. This made her the first Mexican to win an Olympic medal in judo.

Early Life and Education

Prisca was born in Enfield, England. Her father, Xavier, is from Kenya. Her mother, María Dolores, is from Mexico. Her mother's family is from León, Guanajuato.

Before judo, Prisca enjoyed swimming and gymnastics. Her brothers, Philip, Joshua, Samy, and Micheal, all joined the Enfield Judo Club. Her cousins also joined.

Prisca studied sports performance at the University of Bath. She was part of the Team Bath Sports Training Village.

Judo Career Highlights

Prisca has represented Mexico since 2017. This is because of her mother's Mexican heritage. In 2022, she moved from the U.K. to Mexico full-time.

She overcame a shoulder injury to win a silver medal. This was at the Panamerican Senior Championships in Guadalajara in April 2021. She was chosen to compete at the 2020 Summer Games. She faced Boldyn Gankhaich in her first match.
