Prisca Guadalupe Awiti Alcaraz (born on February 20, 1996) is a talented judoka. She grew up in England but now represents Mexico. At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, she won a silver medal. This made her the first Mexican athlete to win an Olympic medal in judo!

Who is Prisca Awiti Alcaraz?

Prisca Awiti Alcaraz is a famous judo athlete. She was born in Enfield, England. Her father, Xavier, is from Kenya, and her mother, María Dolores, is from León, Guanajuato, Mexico.

Early Life and Learning Judo

Before she started judo, Prisca enjoyed swimming and gymnastics. Her brothers, Philip, Joshua, Samy, and Micheal, all joined the Enfield Judo Club. Her cousins also trained there.

Prisca studied sports performance at the University of Bath. She was also part of the Team Bath Sports Training Village.

Her Journey in Judo

Prisca started representing Mexico in judo in 2017. This was possible because her mother is Mexican. In 2022, she moved from the United Kingdom to Mexico full-time.

She faced a challenge when she had a shoulder injury. But she worked hard to recover! In April 2021, she won a silver medal at the Panamerican Senior Championships in Guadalajara. She was chosen to compete at the 2020 Summer Games. There, she competed against Boldyn Gankhaich in her first match.
