Priya A. S. is an Indian writer who creates amazing stories in the Malayalam language. She writes many kinds of books, like short stories, books for children, and even translates books from other languages. One of her most famous translations is Kunju Karyangalude Odeythampuran. This is the Malayalam version of Arundhati Roy's famous book, The God of Small Things. Arundhati Roy herself said that Priya's translation was very special to her. Priya has won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award three times for her wonderful writing.

Priya A. S. was born on May 28, 1967. Her birthplace was Eramalloor, a town near Cherthala in the Alappuzha district of Kerala, India. Both of her parents, K. R. Sadashivan Nair and Anandavalli, were teachers.
She had some health challenges when she was a child. After finishing school, she studied English literature at Maharaja's College, Ernakulam. Later, she earned a master's degree through private study. Priya has worked at Mahatma Gandhi University. She is also a senior assistant at Cochin University of Science and Technology.
Priya is married to Unni. They have a son named Tanmoy, who is also called Kunjunni.
Awards and Achievements
Priya A. S. has won many awards for her writing. Her first big award was the Lalithambika Anterjanam Award in 2003. She won it for her collection of short stories called Manjamarangal Chuttilum. This award was for the best young woman writer.
In 2004, the Kerala Sahitya Akademi gave her their annual award for story. This was for another collection of her short stories, Jagarooka. Ten years later, in 2014, she received the Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize. This was for her translation of The God of Small Things, titled Kunju Karyangalude Odeythampuran.
Priya also writes wonderful books for children. In 2012, she won the Siddhartha Literary Award for her children's book, Ammem Kunjunneem Kunjunneem Ammem. She received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children's Literature twice! First in 2006 for Chithrasalabhangalude Veedu, and then in 2010 for Perumazhayathe Kunjithalukal.
She has also received many other honors. These include the State Bank of India Literary Award and the V. K. Unnikrishnan Award for Translation. Other awards are the Grihalakshmi Award, Ankanam Sahitya Award, and Ramu Kariat Award. In 2023, she won the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar for her novel Perumazhayathe Kunjithalukal.
