The Proserpina Dam is an ancient Roman dam located in Mérida, Extremadura, Spain. It was built a very long time ago, between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. This means it is nearly 2,000 years old!
The dam was an important part of the water system for the Roman city of Emerita Augusta. This city is known as Mérida today. The dam helped supply water to the people living there. Even after the Roman Empire ended, the dam continued to be used. It is still working today, which shows how amazing Roman engineering was.
