Early Life and Education
Prosper Bazombanza was born in a place called Rusaka in Burundi on February 12, 1960. He worked hard in his studies and later graduated from the University of Burundi. There, he earned a degree in engineering, which is about designing and building things.
A Career in Public Service
After finishing his education, Bazombanza began his career in public service. From 2002 to 2005, he served as the governor of Mwaro Province. A governor is like the main leader of a region or state.
Later, he became the First Vice President of Burundi. This was under President Pierre Nkurunziza. He held this role from February 13, 2014, until August 2015.
After that, he continued to work in important roles. From 2016 to 2017, he was the director general of the National Social Security Institute. This organization helps people with things like retirement and health benefits. He also worked as the secretary-general of the Insurance Regulatory and Control Agency, which makes sure insurance companies follow the rules.
Becoming Vice President Again
On June 23, 2020, Prosper Bazombanza was appointed to the post of Vice President once more. He took over from Gaston Sindimwo. This happened after a change in the government, where they decided to have just one Vice President instead of two.
