Prosper Bazombanza was born on February 12, 1960. He is a politician from Burundi, a country in East Africa. He has served as the Vice President of Burundi two times. His first term was from 2014 to 2015. He began his second term in 2020 and is still serving today. Before becoming Vice President, he worked as a teacher and also managed different organizations. He is a member of the Union for National Progress political party.

Early Life and Education

Prosper Bazombanza was born in Kizi Hill, which was part of the Kingdom of Burundi at the time. This was on February 12, 1960. He later attended the University of Burundi. He successfully completed his studies there.

Career Highlights

Before his political career, Bazombanza worked in education. From 1997 to 1999, he taught mathematics at Mwaro High School. He also helped organize vocational education in Mwaro Province. This role lasted from September 5, 2005, until March 3, 2020.

Becoming Vice President

Prosper Bazombanza joined the Union for National Progress (UPRONA) party when he was young. He became the 9th Vice President of Burundi on February 13, 2014. He served in this role until August 20, 2015.

After his first term, he held other important positions. He was the director general of the National Institute of Social Security. He also worked as an administrator for the Banque Commerciale du Burundi.

Bazombanza became the 11th Vice President on June 23, 2020. Most members of the parliament voted for him. Out of 94 members, 91 voted in favor of his nomination.

Prosper Bazombanza is married. He and his wife have six children.
