The Provincial Assembly of Balochistan is an important part of the government in Pakistan. It is one of the four main assemblies that help run the different provinces of Pakistan. This assembly is like a special meeting place where elected people make laws for the province of Balochistan.
What is the Balochistan Assembly?
The Balochistan Assembly is a "unicameral" legislature. This means it has only one main group or "chamber" of members. These members work together to create rules and laws for everyone living in Balochistan.
How was it created?
This assembly was officially set up by Article 106 of the Constitution of Pakistan. The Constitution is like a rulebook that explains how the country should be governed. So, the assembly follows these rules to do its job.
Who are the members?
The Balochistan Assembly has a total of 65 members. Most of these members, 51 of them, are chosen directly by the people of Balochistan. They represent different areas called constituencies or districts.
Besides these 51 members, there are also special seats:
- 11 seats are kept for women. This helps make sure women have a voice in making laws.
- 3 seats are for people who are not Muslim. This ensures that all different groups in Balochistan are represented.
These members are called Members of the Provincial Assembly, or MPAs for short. They work hard to make sure Balochistan is a good place to live for everyone.
