The Prunus brasiliensis is a type of tree that belongs to the Rosaceae family, which also includes plants like roses and apples! This tree naturally grows in the warm countries of Brazil and the northeastern parts of Argentina.

What Does the Prunus brasiliensis Look Like?

This amazing tree can grow very tall, sometimes reaching up to 20 metres (66 feet) (about 65 feet) high. That's as tall as a 6 or 7-story building! Its main stem, called a trunk, can also get quite wide, up to 50 centimetres (20 inches) (about 20 inches) across. The trunk is usually straight, but sometimes it can be a bit bumpy.

The Prunus brasiliensis tree has small, pretty white flowers. These flowers grow in groups called racemes, which look like little clusters hanging from the branches. Each cluster can be about 2–10 cm (34–4 in) long. The individual petals of these flowers are tiny, only about 15 millimetres (58 inch) long.

Where Does the Prunus brasiliensis Live?

You can find the Prunus brasiliensis tree growing in the forests of Brazil and in the northwestern areas of Argentina. It prefers to live in places that are not too high up, usually in forests that are less than 500 m (1,600 ft) (about 1,640 feet) above sea level. These areas have the right climate and soil for the tree to grow big and strong.
