Pueblo Pintado (Navajo: Náhodeeshgiizh Chʼínílíní) is a small community in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is a special area set up by the government for counting people. In 2020, about 318 people lived there.

Pueblo Pintado is located in the state of New Mexico. It covers an area of about 10.5 square miles (27.2 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.

The Ancient Great House
One of the most interesting things about Pueblo Pintado is its ancient ruins. These are the remains of a "Great House" built by the Ancestral Pueblo peoples. These people lived in the southwestern United States a long time ago.
What is the Great House?
The Great House is a large, old building. It is part of the famous Chaco Canyon area. The name "Pueblo Pintado" means "painted village" in Spanish. This name was given by a guide during an exploration trip in 1849.
How Old is It?
Scientists have studied the wood used in the building. They used a method called dendrochronology, which looks at tree rings. This showed that the Great House was built around 1060-1061 AD. This was a busy time for building in the Chacoan culture.
What Was Inside?
The Great House likely had about 90 rooms. It also had 14 to 16 kivas. A kiva is a special room used by the Ancestral Pueblo people for ceremonies or community gatherings. There is also a very large kiva to the south of the main building. It is about 58 feet (17.7 meters) across.
Education in Pueblo Pintado
Children in Pueblo Pintado attend local schools. The Pueblo Pintado Community School teaches students from kindergarten to 8th grade. This school is run by the Bureau of Indian Education. Older students go to Tseʼ Yiʼ Gai High School, which is nearby.
