History of Puerto Morín

Long ago, in the late 1800s, the Guañape cove was a simple beach. People mostly came here to fish. The area got its current name, Puerto Morín, after a small dock was built.

This dock was constructed by a Frenchman named Carlos Marie Morin Dutot. He arrived in Peru in the 1870s and worked with the local people to build the dock. That's how the beach became known as Puerto Morín.

Puerto Morín is also a great starting point to visit the Guañape Islands. These islands are home to many different kinds of marine life. You can find sea lions and various bird species living there.
