Punky is a fun Irish animated TV show! It was created by Lindsay J. Sedgwick and made by a company called Monster Animation and Design in Dublin, Ireland. What makes Punky special is that its main character has Down syndrome. It was actually the first animated show ever to feature a character with Down syndrome!
Meet the Characters
The show Punky tells stories about the daily life of a happy six-year-old girl. She loves "music," "dancing," and "hugs," as the show's introduction explains.
Punky enjoys playing with her older brother, Con, and their dog, Rufus. She also tries to make her grandmother, "Cranky," a little less grumpy!
The voice of Punky is done by Jo Sherry. She is a 29-year-old voice actress from the United Kingdom who also has Down syndrome.
