Punta Umbría is a charming town and municipality in the province of Huelva, located in the sunny region of Andalusia, Spain. It started as a small fishing village. The town sits right on the banks of the Rio Odiel river. It is also just across the water from Huelva, the capital city of the province.
Punta Umbría is surrounded by large areas of salt marshes. It also faces an island called Isla Saltes. The word Punta in its name means "point" in Spanish. This refers to the long strip of land that stretches out into the sea from the beach.
